Norwich Greens celebrate stunning results in May’s local elections!

In the recent local elections on the 5th May 2022, Norwich Green Party gained an additional seat on Norwich City Council and successfully defended all seats that were up for re-election.

In Sewell, we gained a seat from Labour cabinet member with Cllr Alex Catt taking 51.4% of the vote.

In Mancroft, Cllr Jamie Osborn was re-elected with a whopping 61.9% of the vote.

In Thorpe Hamlet, Cllr Ben Price was re-elected with 51.3% of the vote, an increase of 10% following a much closer result in 2021.

In Nelson, Cllr Julie Young was elected with 53.3% of the vote. Julie takes over from outgoing councillor Nannette Youssef. We thank Nannette for all that she has done for her Nelson constituents and for the Green Party in Norwich.

We are also celebrating 3 second place results in the wards of Town Close, Wensum and University.

We would like to thank everyone who came out and voted Green this May. It is clear that people are fed up with the same old politics from the main parties and by voting Green, you have strengthened the opposition on Norwich City Council.

Thank you to all of our candidates and councillors across the city as well as everyone who helped with our election campaign. From delivering leaflets to door-knocking, putting up posters to installing poster boards, social media to helping out on election day, every single action helped to deliver an incredible result.

However, now the real work begins. We will be holding our council to account and fighting for our communities to make Norwich a fairer and greener city.

If you would like to support this work or just want to see what it involves, fill in our volunteering form and we will be in contact to see how you would like to help.
