  • Jenny Knight

    sewell Ward – Jenny Knight

I am a dementia care worker, poet and litterpick organiser living in NR3. When I finished my degree in 2020 I felt lost, I had worked for 3 years for a business and events degree and suddenly my sector was locked down. I was wanted to do something that benefited society so I started working as a cleaner in a covid ward, after that I became a care worker for young adults with special educational needs. When lockdown lifted I started organising poetry events throughout Norwich, proud to take part in the rich culture of our city of writing. Today I work 3 days a week in dementia care, spending my free time gardening, cooking and assisting the Sewell Green Team with casework and organising the NR3 Litterbugs.

I have a passion for food and sustainable practices of consumption. I believe in supporting local butchers, eating seasonally and practicing garden to plate wherever possible. As we face this climate crisis we must safeguard our communities’ food security and ensure nobody goes hungry.

I believe in community, social justice and environmentalism and the only way I think we can achieve this is direct democracy and direct action. The personal is political and I am tired of the political class forgetting about the human element of their decisions. The government’s decisions have real impacts on people’s lives and it is time the voices of those underserved communities were listened to, turning insight into action

I will stand up for working people and the most vulnerable in our society who have been left behind after 14 years of austerity that the current labour government is perpetuating. It is high time our government was run by our communities for our communities, not by millionaires for billionaires.

  • Mancroft – serene Shibli

    Mancroft – Serene Shibli

Serene is a passionate and experienced community organiser. Since moving to Norwich, she has volunteered with community groups, campaigned for renters’ rights – particularly for more affordable housing in Anglia Square – and led anti-war protests in solidarity with Ukraine and Palestine. She has also worked to secure better protections for homeless people in winter and against unfair cuts to disability benefits. If elected, she will continue standing up for your rights and supporting our community.

  • tony park

    Bowthorpe ward – Tony Park

Tony has lived in Norwich since 2009 and has been a member of the Green Party for nearly 30 years. He has previously been a Green Party councillor in Dereham, having been elected to Dereham Town Council three times and to Breckland District Council for one four-year term.

Tony ran a wholefood shop in Dereham for 17 years until 2002. He was chairman of Dereham Chamber of Trade for two years. He also co-wrote the proposal that brought the local “Nipper” bus service to Dereham. He now runs an organic veg-box scheme based here in Norwich.

He has chosen to stand to represent the Green Party because he feels impressed by the caring and responsive manner with which it tackles issues facing our community today. He is particularly interested in supporting local businesses and shops to help make our local community more vibrant. He believes that the old saying ‘think global, act local’ is still relevant today and his actions are a testament to that.

He has been pleased to champion a more holistic, sustainable way of life and would be proud to represent the Green Party again on a local council.

When not campaigning, Tony can be found playing table tennis, performing music, or out trying to learn birdsongs on the meadows by the River Wensum.
