Why you should vote Green in the General Election

Keeping the Tories out is about electing a government that doesn’t follow Tory policies, not just changing the party in power. The polls indicate labour is going to win, here in Norwich, regardless of what they do. And they have little regard for what they do.

Labour’s record in opposition:

  • £28 billion for climate action – DROPPED
  • Blocking new oil and gas fields – DROPPED
  • Funding for local councils – DROPPED
  • A public NHS – DROPPED
  • An end to the two child benefit cap – DROPPED
  • Action on sewage in our waters – DROPPED
  • Bringing utilities into public hands – RULED OUT
  • An end to £9,000 a year tuition fees – DROPPED
  • Increasing tax on the rich – DROPPED
  • Defending migrants’ rights – DROPPED
  • Electoral reform and replacing the House of Lords – DROPPED

A vote for the Green party will tell Labour these are the policies they should be keeping, not rejecting.

The Green Party Candidates

In Norwich North

Ben has lived in Norwich since moving to the city from London in 2001. A gardener by profession, he has been a Norwich city councillor since 2012 and a Norfolk county councillor since 2021.

Ben is standing for the Norwich North parliamentary seat because he wants bring real positive change to the city that both Labour and Conservative MPs have simply failed to deliver.

As a local councillor with a strong community focus, Ben has a good understanding of the issues that matter to the people of Norwich North. He has worked alongside residents to solve local problems, while trying to effect positive change across the city.

Housing is a big issue in Norwich North. Ben wants to see rent controls introduced and the ending of no fault evictions to help private renters feel safe in their homes and stop them being ripped off by landlords.

As Chair of the Audit committee at Norwich city council, Ben has worked hard to improve governance and accountability at City Hall, attempting to prevent the waste of public finances. He would take those skills and knowledge to Westminster where he work hard to make national government open and transparent to residents and fight for good value for the tax payer.

Ben has done much to help support the environment in Norwich. As a professional gardener, Ben acutely understands the importance of biodiversity and the impacts climate change is having on the natural and human worlds. If elected to Westminster Ben will fight tirelessly for Britain to lead the world in transitioning to a low-carbon economy and the restoration of our natural environment. This is a commitment you will not get from Labour or Conservatives.

In Norwich South

Jamie Osborn has made Norwich home, having come here to work for a mental health charity. He is bringing up his little boy here, and has been a councillor for the city for five years.

Jamie has a track record of solving people’s real problems. He’s stood up for tenants in mouldy flats, campaigned to restore in-person GP appointments, and helped schools get breakfast clubs so children don’t go hungry.

Labour are certain they are going to win in Norwich and nationally. Jamie will hold Labour to account and stop them U-turning on more promises.

A vote for Jamie will be a vote to keep the NHS public, provide decent affordable housing, protect our climate, and for real change.
